On Saturday 25th June, Airport Impressions gave a special electric performance at Numero Uno marking the launch of their highly anticipated summer single ‘Retro Star’. The band broke in the middle of a clubbing night to entertain the crowd with a blasting performance. The boys excelled in turning the venue into a live venue with their solid rock hits like ‘freedom’, ‘elusive’, ‘borderline’ and ‘walk with me’. The highlight of the night was however, ‘Retro Star’. This new single boasts a mixture of irish/american country with modern rock attributes and this gives it an edge for a great summer song.

Hyped from an outstanding performance in front of 5,000 people at their last concert in Zejtun, ‘Airport Impressions’ have been confirmed as the main band to perform at the inauguration of the most modern drag racing arena in Europe. This will be part of the prestigious FIA European Drag Racing championship, and the opening ceremony will host a live and electric concert by Airport Impressions. This arena built just one hour north of Stockholm, Sweden,  will be launched by an already fully booked three day racing event. The band will be performing a full electric set in front of 30,000 people at the Tierp Arena on Saturday 11^th June and will also feature on Swedish television and radio stations throughout their stay.

Mr. Leif Andersson, a three time European Champion was the mastermind behind this new arena. After watching the band at the Zejtun concert he commented ‘the band’s passion during the performance was something I haven’t seen in years… I’m sure this was the perfect choice for the opening of our arena’.

“We have been working very hard for our acts and this summer is no different when it comes to live shows in other territories. Although last November we signed a non exclusive deal with a Tour booking agency for our acts, it’s always the cheery on the cake to get invited to BIG shows and summer festivals. ‘Live’ is always the best way to promote an act but sometimes doing the small club circuit can drain your finances and leave the act with no ‘domino effect’ and significant results. Obviously these kind of slots are always tougher to conclude. Airport Impressions have developed into a great LIVE band and I’m very confident that their journey is at it’s start line.“ said Howard Keith – the band’s manager.
In the meantime the four piece band have a busy schedule ahead of them with other upcoming events in Malta. Following the well received show at the Waterfront just before James Blunt and the massive concert in Zejtun, Airport Impressions will be performing a special Live electric set in Numero Uno  (Ta Qali) on Saturday the 25th of June. This will also mark the launch of the band’s new upcoming single release from their fast selling debut album – Minutes of  lifetime. “ RETRO STAR” will be launched on the air waves in the coming days and a music video will follow shortly.

Hope you’re all well.

We have come to our last newsletter closing off such a fantastic year. 2010 was the year in which the band worked to surpass the pressures and expectations that the previous achievements have placed upon us. In brief we are going to give a resume of what we’ve been through.

• After almost concluding our songwriting sessions, it was in February 2010 when we started recording the album ‘Minutes of a Lifetime’ which was eventually released in October.

• May 2010, ‘The Air We Breathe’, a song from the EP released last year was chosen for a promo video shot in collaboration of ‘Manchester United TV’ in May 2010.

• In June 2010 we released our first single from the album in parallel with the recording work, ‘Walk with Me’. This single once again received an impressive feedback from radio stations and local music lovers and spent three weeks at no.1 on Malta’s Top Ten.

• ‘Walk With Me’ brought along the release of our first professional music video in July 2010 produced and directed by Jean Pierre Gatt.

• Summer 2010 will also be remembered for the performances we gave at Earth Garden and the Great Farsons Beer Festival.

• Recording of the album was finalised around September 2010 and an official release date was set for October 2010.

• The beginning of October saw the release of another single from the album. ‘Freedom’ was  yet another stepping stone towards the success of the album and it also made it to number one on Malta’s Top Ten and

• ‘Minutes of a lifetime’, a collection of twelve tracks from alternative to mainstream rock was released on the 22^ndof October with a fully packed launch gig at Tattingers club.

Following all this, with your help and support we managed to get a complete clean sweep at the Bay Music Awards by winning Best Band, Best Song (Walk With Me) and also the new Bay Presenters’ choice award. This treble has made us the first band to win the Best Band award for two consecutive years, i.e. 2009 and 2010.

However, the year is not over yet and more is yet to come. Our next single will be out in the coming days!!!. ‘Elusive’, a song sending a message to those who for their various problems decide to take a ‘numb’ approach towards life. The message is to hold on hope and let your breathing space shine.

Our next live and electric gig will be held on the eve of 2011 at Pjazza it-Tokk, Rabat Gozo. This is a public event and is open for all. We started our 2010 there last year and will surely close it off with a bang so we are looking forward to celebrate with you there once again.
